RESEARCHERS

For help with this edition, Rick relied on...

Ian Anderson

Hailing from a military family, Ian grew up moving every couple of years, with stints in London, Japan, and the American South. He’s never stopped testing out new hometowns, having spent time in Europe, Mexico, and many, many places with Pacific coastlines as he’s fashioned a career writing magazine features, food-and-drink columns, and road trip guidebooks.

Kim Eckart

Kim moved around the US as a child, but it was a college semester in London that introduced her to the wider world. A former newspaper reporter, editor, and teacher, she’s now an editor and researcher at Rick Steves’ Europe. She lives outside Seattle and aims to visit all seven continents; she’s hit four so far.

Cameron Hewitt

Cameron Hewitt was born in Denver, grew up in Central Ohio, and moved to Seattle in 2000 to work for Rick Steves’ Europe. Since then, he has spent about 100 days each year in Europe—researching and writing guidebooks, blogging, tour guiding, and making travel TV (described in his memoir, The Temporary European). Cameron married his high school sweetheart, Shawna, and enjoys taking pictures, trying new restaurants, and planning his next trip.

Suzanne Kotz

Suzanne, an editor with Rick Steves’ Europe, began her travel career riding in a station wagon with her six siblings from Michigan to Florida for spring break. Since then, she’s broadened her destinations to include much of Europe and parts of Asia. A librarian by training and a longtime editor of art publications, she’s happiest in her Seattle garden or when planning a meal for family and friends.

Rosie Leutzinger

Rosie’s love of travel was ingrained at an early age, thanks to vacations to visit her British mother’s family. Opportunities to play softball for Great Britain’s national team, and professionally in Austria and Japan, turned that love of travel into an obsession. An editor and researcher at Rick Steves’ Europe, she spends her free time exploring the Puget Sound region and watching women’s sports.

Travis Parker

Travis grew up bouncing between the United States and France, during which he developed a love for European travel, culture, and sport. After guiding tours for Rick Steves’ Europe for seven years, he moved to Washington, DC, to direct cultural programs for the European Union—and is thrilled to be back with Rick Steve’s Europe as a guidebook researcher. He lives on the East Coast with his wife, Reagan.
